While most of the park is native land with hike and bike trails only, two major developed areas provide limitless hours of recreational activities for residents and their families. At the west end of the park, seven irrigated soccer fields serve as the weekend retreat for over 1600 children who play in the South Austin Youth Soccer Association. There are other numerous park amenities including:
At the east end of the park is one of only five tracks in the U.S. dedicated to cycling and rollerblanding stretching roughly 10 miles, known to Austinites as the Veloway. Located across from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, the track meanders through Hill Country meadows and hills and used heavily by families, recreational and serious cyclists.
